The title, Silent Parties (Tavse Parter), refers to the mute, non-human participants in legal history: those who have been spoken for in courts of law, because they are perceived as not having a voice of their own.
Process
Centering around eight historic legal cases, we have developed a set of 54 negative bas-relief panels and texts, carved in douglas fir. They will all be integrated into the law court’s new premise, an art deco building from 1898, which was originally built to house the city library. Four of the legal cases concern animals, that have been put on trial; the other four concern robots that have been at the centre of legal disputes.
