The Return of the Breathers is an ongoing artistic project by Pablo Jansana that explores
speculative ecologies and the possibility of planetary repair. Through painting, sculpture, sound, and spatial installation, the work imagines a mythic community of beings—“the Breathers”—who
return to a damaged world to restore the conditions for life.

Developed during a residency at the Danish Art Workshops, the project combines large-scale painting with sculptural elements and narrative fragments. Jansana creates an immersive environment where fiction, ecology, and collective memory intersect. The work reflects on climate crisis, interdependence, and the fragile infrastructures that sustain life.
