Poland, 1984

Nina Nowak (PL/DE), born in Poznań, Poland, lives and works in Berlin. Her practice explores questions of corporeality, investigating concepts around space, time and materiality.

She studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and was a postgraduate fellow at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm. She is currently a doctoral research fellow at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Nina Nowak has received international fellowships and awards, including grants from Stiftung Kunstfonds, Jan van Eyck Academy Maastricht (NL), Art Hub Copenhagen and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Her recent publications include the artist book Meet Me at the Beach (2022) and an interview in Sculpture magazine (2023).

Nowak’s work has been presented internationally at Gallery Susanne Ottesen (Meet me at the Beach, 2021), Copenhagen Contemporary (Yet it moves!, 2023), ARKEN Museum of Modern Art (Grundstof, duo, 2022), and the Korean Cultural Center in London and Berlin (Begin Again, 2022).

Her work has also been shown at Museum Ostwall in Dortmund (DEW Kunstpreis, 2020) and Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf (Die Große NRW, 2019), Darren Knight Gallery in Sydney (2022) and CICA Museum in South Korea (2025).
