Nina Saunders, born in Denmark 1958, lives in London and studied Fine Art and Critical studies at St Martin’s College of Art from 1986-1991.

Saunders is a multi-media artist whose works across a wide range of materials and art forms and is known for her uncanny sculptural transformations of reclaimed furniture. Her creations are often confounding, appearing on the one hand familiarly domestic and, on the other hand, quite humorous. 

By meticulously manipulating and distorting the shapes of her found materials she turns each previously owned household item into a redundant object. Her ambitious creations are not only extremely witty, but also boast an elegant and mysterious character.  

Saunders had her breakthrough as an artist in the mid-90s at the Saatchi Gallery in London and has worked and exhibited worldwide since. Today, her works are represented in a number of museum collections in Europe and the USA as well as receiving much notoriety for her awards in Denmark.

Nina Saunders har deltaget i TV-programmet “Kunstnerkolonien” på DR i sommeren 2024. I atelieret på plan 5 har hun arbejdet på at finpudse værket, Have You Seen Jacob, som senere skal udstilles på Nivågaards Malerisamling.

Den danskfødte kunstner Nina Saunders arbejder på projektet “Katy leeds the convoy”. En ‘fredskonvoj’, som består af skulpturelle møbler med indpolstrede dyr. Alle møbler bliver polstret i hvidt i ‘Chesterfield-stil’, og dyrene er udstoppede dyr som f.eks. ræv, fugl mv. Projektet kommer til at indeholde… Læs mere
