Nina Nowak studied at the Royal Academy in Copenhagen and Kunstakademie Düsseldorf where she graduated from in 2015. She did a postmaster course at the Royal Institute of Fine Art in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2020/21 she is resident at Jan Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht.
Nina’s praxis evolves the questions of living and non-living matter and what it means to be alive. In her sculptures and installations topics of bodily borders, concepts of human and non human agents, functionality and ecology comes into play. Working with different techniques, Nina combines traditional woodcarving with fluids, mechanical objects and 3D techniques.
Nina’s work was shown at Galleri Susanne Ottesen, Entrée in Bergen, Norway, Museum Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and Horsens Kunstmuseum amongst others.
She has been awarded with grants i.a. from Stiftung Kunstfonds Bonn and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of NorthRhine-Westphalia, Germany.
