Blink and You’ll Miss it
-Sculptures of almost nothing
10 January – 9 February 2025
This exhibition is inspired by ordinary items such as a plastic bag or a pair of gloves, caught in movement or by being randomly placed in the rush of everyday life, revealing a glimpse of sculptural beauty.
With the project, Blink and you’ll Miss it – Sculptures of Almost Nothing, Ole Christian van Huizen aims to capture the fleeting forms of everyday objects and transform them into a solid object. He has thus produced a series of ten objects in white and black silk in the sewing workshop of the Danish Art Workshops.
Objects are constructed to mime a plastic bag, a takeaway paper bag or other objects, such as a glove, a scarf, or a panty. These everyday objects are sometimes unpurposely left somewhere without thought, and within a blink of an eye they can take a particularly elegant shape and turn into a sculpture. Ole Christian van Huizen turns the everyday objects into sculptures by extending, oversizing and doubling them and then sewing them together.
Entry is free and opening hours on weekdays are 9am – 5pm.
Exhibition Opening
10 January 2025 at 3pm – 5 pm. The address is Strandgade 27B, 1401 Copenhagen City.
Special Event
On January 28 Ole Christian van Huizen will present a mini fashion collection at the Danish Art Workshops. In this women`s wear capsule collection he is exploring his own take on pleats and smocked fabric. Since the location is a small showroom, models will walk in continuously, and guests may drop in between 17:00 – 18:00 to get a unique close look at the garments.
