How Art Can Contribute to Understand a Global Crisis Caused by Warfare
Talk at The Danish Art Workshops, 31 October 2022, 4.30 – 6pm
Meet Ukrainian Curator and Director of Odesa Photo Days Festival, Kateryna Radchenko, in conversation with Curator of Photography and Research Librarian PhD The National Collection of Photography, Charlotte Præstegaard Schwartz.
Kateryna Radchenko works directly with photographers on the frontline. Currently, she is collecting and curating photos from the war zone in order to produce international publications, exhibitions, events and create opportunities for people around the world to experience these visual stories and narratives first hand. Throughout the heated days of war, Kateryna and her teamwork act as an aid for international media outlets in Kyiv, supporting photographers who are either stuck, in danger, or go to the frontlines as independent artists.
As part of the Displaced Artists Network programme, The Danish Art Workshops has invited Kateryna Radchenko to discuss the situation in Ukraine and current work by Ukrainian photographers and artists. She will talk about, how her role as a curator has changed due to the war, and what artistic means can contribute to understand a global crisis caused by warfare.
Free entrance. Send us an e-mail if you wish to participate: tilmelding@svfk.dk
The talk will be held in English, and we will livestream it through our Facebook page
