Sam Derounian is a British-Danish artist currently based in Copenhagen.
Through mixed-media collages, sculptures, and audio-visual installations/tableaux, he explores the relationship between individuals and the harmful social structures and phenomena, they exist in relation to.
These relationships are visualised through surreal interactions between human figures, symbolising individuals, and through objects, that symbolise particular social structures or phenomena.
His work has previously been shown in solo and group exhibitions and events including at Tate Modern (UK), Nikolaj Kunsthal (DK), CCA Glasgow (UK), Transmission Gallery (UK), Vermilion Sands (DK), Bonamatic (DK), Danish Art Workshops (DK), the Danish Association of Printmakers and other institutions internationally. He recieved a working grant from the Danish Visual Arts Council in 2025 and since 2018 have taught in various positions at University of the Arts London (UK).
