Brief info

f. 1991

Hilary graduated Masters of Architecture from Monash University in Melbourne. She is currently on a research sabbatical from her regular role as a Melbourne based registered architect, with Kennedy Nolan Architects.

Through many avenues; from design and documentation within architectural offices; involvement in design-build workshops; to creating handmade immersive theatre sets, she has explored her passion of the way things go together, their material qualities, what it means for the spaces they sit within, and for the people they affect. As an architect, podcaster, artist and creative involved in theatre and immersive design, she is interested in practice exploring the intersection between architecture, art and technologies.

Hearing Architecture is an initiative of the Australian Institute of Architect’s Emerging Architect and Graduate Network (EmAGN) and is produced by young committee members of each Australian state. Hilary currently contributes through her a role on the curatorial committee.

Beyond Hearing Architecture, Hilary has helped establish ‘Generation Exchange’ mentoring program, she sits on the Victorian Chapter Education Committee and has been pivotal in establishing ‘Material Matters’; a Robin Boyd Foundation student competition. Hilary has held roles as a juror at the Institute awards, and as a sessional tutor at Monash Uni. Her involvement in the international design community has spanned several international student studios, a master planning workshop for architects in Norway, and as recipient of MGS scholarship for Women in Architecture.
