Wei Yang (b. 1994, Liuzhou) is an artist living and working between Liuzhou and Frankfurt am Main. He studied at Städelschule and holds a MFA from Sandberg Institute.
Through painting, sculpture, and performance, Yang explores human conditions as a fluid and diasporic geography, which is ever shaped by memory. By layering intimacy, belonging, and companionship, he creates hybrid images drawn from folklore, myth, marginalized histories, and personal landscapes. His work challenges dominant narratives and archival neglect, reimagining geography not as fixed terrain but as an embodied and relational space.
Yang’s work has been shown at Politiken Forhals, Copenhagen (2025); ScupltureCenter, New York (2025); Centro Cultural Las Cigarreras, Alicante (2024); Carme Contemporary Culture Center, Valencia (2024); Kunstraum Memphis, Linz, Austria(2024); Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Copenhagen (2024); West Den Haag, The Hague (2024); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2022); and Tank Shanghai, Shanghai (2019).
