Jacomijn did her studies at Kunstacademie Sint Joost in Breda and HISK in Antwerp. She has her studio in Breda, the Netherlands and is working there as an artist/printmaker since 1990.

Her main technique is woodcut.

She went to Japan to learn about the Japanese woodcut.

Den Engelsen has had numerous exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad, amongst others Museum für Druckkunst Leipzig, Print Centre New York, Print Triennial Krakow, Poland and in Osaka, Japan.

Her works are included in various collections, such as Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Print Cabinets of Universities of Leiden and Eindhoven
