Work in Progress: Meet artist Kristina Bengtsson talking about her project ‘Architectural Belly’ in the Wood Workshop.
Kristina Bengtsson’s project combines photographs taken over the last three years during trips to several cities and towns around the world. The work consists of closely framed compositions, taken nearby, inside or on top of buildings, depicting obscure details which err towards abstraction.
A photograph rarely captures what a building feels like. Architectural Belly explores a phenomenogical view, resulting in a series of temporally fragile yet tangible residual textures and surfaces.
Engaged with an organic, transient, unplanned present the images depict a fluid architectural now i.e. otherworldly acidic pools, unidentified black drips on a concrete roof, or a glistening carpet of wet moss.
Kristina Bengtsson is born in Sweden, and lives and works in Copenhagen. Her educational background counts among others the Academy of Visual Arts, Leipzig and Fine Art Photography, Glasgow School of Art.
The talk will be moderated by editor at Kunsten.nu, Matthias Hvass Borello.
