DESCRIPTION:Design talk on fiber arts featuring independent curator Elizabeth Kozlowski\, Master of Arts in Museum Studies\, USA. Photo: Michael Flanagan. \n \nJune 8th\, 4.30pm\n The Danish Art Workshops \nIn this talk Elizabeth Kozlowski will investigate the historical gendered division of labor and its relationship to artistic production. She works with development of the textile industry and the labor movement in the United States. The women’s movement in relation to industrialization is her focal point and proves a symbiotic relationship to contemporary fiber arts. \nElizabeth Kozlowski holds a Master of Arts in Museum Studies and works in partnership with contemporary Danish artist Isabel Berglund. Home Mask Relations is the title of a social art project and exhibition developed by Isabel Berglund and curated by Kozlowski in collaboration with Florida Atlantic University. In short\, the project consists of hand-knitted representations of “home” and “place”. The experiences of home relations\, that Berglund highlights with her project\, is a timely illustration of what seems to have become a global issue. \nKozlowski will elaborate on the themes of Berglund’s social project and furthermore provide an overview of her many collaborations with Danish craftsmen. The look upon Danish craftsmanship from an American point of view will be highlighted. \nFree admission! The talk will be in English. \nPlease submit an email to rebekka@svfk.dk if you wish to participate. \n– \nAbout Elizabeth Kozlowski \nFor the past twelve years\, independent curator Elizabeth Kozlowski has held a senior position in numerous non-profit arts organizations across the South and West. Her current project Material Domestication will feature the work of seven contemporary artists who utilize disparate cultural backgrounds as a framework for exploration invested in skill\, material and identity. This exhibition will debut at the Museum of Craft and Design\, San Francisco in 2019. \nKozlowski most recently served as curator at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in 2014; as Windgate Curatorial Fellow at Arizona State University Art Museum; and as an assistant preparator for Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in 2011.  \nKozlowski has been awarded numerous curatorial residencies and travel grants including the 2017 Windgate ITE International Scholar in Residence at the Center for Art and Wood\, Philadelphia and the Danish Arts Foundation International Research Grant in 2015 and 2017 respectively. \nKozlowski has organized several national traveling exhibitions including The WildLIFE Project with Wendy Maruyama and Crafting a Continuum: Rethinking Contemporary Craft with the Arizona State University Art Museum. Kozlowski has a Masters with Honors in museum studies from Arizona State University and a BFA in studio art-ceramics awarded by Florida Atlantic University\, Boca Raton.
