DESCRIPTION:Lyd som drivkraft\nRagnhild May opholder sig på Statens Værksteders tekstiltrykværksted\, hvor hun arbejder på nye værker til en udstilling hos Alice Folker Gallery til januar 2022.  \n \nDet er første gang\, hun arbejder med tekstil som medie og materiale\, og under Artweek ’21 åbner hun døren til værkstedet og giver et indblik i sin performative praksis samtidig med\, at hun inviterer os ind til noget af det aller mest sårbare: sin kunstneriske arbejdsproces lige her og nu. \nRagnhild May arbejder i krydsfeltet mellem visuel kunst og musik og kombinerer forskellige medier\, såsom skulptur\, video\, installation og performance\, med lige dele dybde\, følsomhed og humor. Hendes værker involverer altid lyd i en eller anden form og kredser om grænsetilfældene i vores forståelse af musik\, komposition og populærkulturens koder. Hun ser sig derfor også drevet til at bygge nye redskaber\, ofte nogle meget omfattende musikinstrumenter. \n”Lyd er en meget direkte måde at kommunikere på. Det er en måde at røre folk. Jeg bliver selv meget påvirket af at opleve noget lydligt. Det er ikke\, fordi jeg altid har været optaget af lyd; nok mere af at bygge ting selv. Jeg har altid været vildt optaget af at reparere ting og samle dem igen.” Forklarer kunstneren i et interview til DR. \nArtist talk med Ragnhild May afholdes på Statens Værksteder for Kunst\, fredag d. 1. oktober kl. 15.30. \nDer er fri entré\, men tilmelding er nødvendig. Send en mail til tilmelding@svfk.dk\, hvis du ønsker at deltage. \n\nEnglish \nSound as a Driving Force\nRagnhild May is busy at the Danish Art Workshops creating new works for an upcoming exhibition at Alice Folker Gallery. For the first time in her artistic career she moved into the textile area\, and during the Artweek\, she opens the door to her workshop to give us an insight into her performative praxis\, and at the same time into the most fragile: her experimenting working process. \nRagnhild May works in the intersection between visual art and music\, in which she combines different media like sculpture\, video\, installation\, and performance with equal parts of depth\, sensitivity and humor. \nHer work always involves sound of some kind and challenge our common understanding of music\, composition\, and popular culture. Therefor she is driven to build her own ‘tools’ in the sense of some very comprehensive musical instruments. \n“Sound is a very direct way of communicating; it moves people in a certain way. I myself am very influenced by experiencing something audible. However\, I have not always been this preoccupied with sound\, more with inventing and building stuff.
