SUMMARY:Exhibition Foyer: Sofia Hagström Møller
DESCRIPTION:A Material Play With Woven Compositions\n6 Oct. – 13 Nov. 2022 \nA weaving project in collaboration with Professor Marianne Fairbanks from Madison Wisconsin\, USA. \nThe original weaving files\, which were carefully prepared for the stay at The Danish Art Workshops\, had to be redone and replaced\, as the TC1 loom was not functioning well and hence could not handle too many pixels being transferred digitally at the same time. The larger and more complicated the pattern was\, the more fragile the output\, and therefore contained more errors and glitches from the digital system. This presented a significant challenge in producing works to be exhibited in Officinet. \nAesthetic Exploration \nIn my development of works\, I have taken as my inspiration\, a tablecloth woven by my grandmother in the early 1900s. I have used the same pattern as her (Daldräll or Overshoot) both as an enlarged pattern in itself\, but also as a filling pattern in the small scale details. During my stay at this semi-functioning tc1 loom\, I have tried to meet my challenges with a creative openness and make use of my experience in the development of samples and works. A process that has now taken me much further in my use of unusual and thicker materials to weave with. After all\, one aspect of creativity is the ability to adapt and indeed grow with new situations presented. \nSo I have become very excited about using thin wooden sticks in the loom\, and I have also spray painted them in various patterns\, after which I have woven them into the Daldrall.\nWhen I see the final works cut down\, I am after all\, a little grateful for the creative process that has pushed me\, albeit via great frustration\, into new avenues of aesthetic exploration. I have also been greatly encouraged in this process by my creative sparring with Marianne. \nFor me this has reaffirmed a kind of belief that my creative reflexes can also take me further in my artistic endeavours\, and my stay at the Danish Art Workshops certainly has. And I have become motivated to create\, and even more curious about the design of my future works. \n– \nSofia Hagström Møller completed her masters at the Danish Design Academy in 2007\, and since then she has primarily worked with woven artworks. Both for exhibiting\, as well as for bespoke decoration of public spaces and commercial environments\, in Denmark as well as internationally. When Sofia isn’t in her workshop\, she is teaching the craft of weaving in various schools in Scandinavia.

SUMMARY:Kulturnatten: Mød kunstnere og designere i værkstederne
DESCRIPTION:Få et unikt indblik i professionelle kunstneres og designeres arbejde\, når vi d. 14. oktober 2022 kl. 18.00 – 22.00 åbner dørene og viser de mange processer\, der går forud for udstillinger og udsmykninger i ind- og udland. Alt det\, der ellers er usynligt for offentligheden. \n \nPå Kulturnatten holder vi værksteder og atelierer åbne\, så du kan møde kunstnere og designere midt i deres “work in progress”. Kom indenfor de tykke mure i Gammel Dok Pakhus og se\, hvordan kunsten bliver skabt. Her er plads og rum til kunstnerisk produktion\, udvikling og forskning. \nRundvisning\nKom helt i dybden med de forskellige projekter og tag med direktør\, Frederik Hardvendel\, på en rundvisning i huset. Her vil du blive præsenteret for grafisk værksted\, tekstil – og væveværkstedet\, lerværkstedet samt træ- og metalværkstederne. Kunstnere og designere vil være til stede og fortælle om deres individuelle projekter. \nTuren varer maks. 1 time og starter i metalværkstedet på plan 1\, kl. 19.00\, 20.00 og 21.00. \nTegneworkshop\nVær med til at skabe store geometriske figurer på gulv og vægge sammen med kunstner\, Pia Jensen. Med inspiration fra egne kunstprojekter indbyder Pia til at gribe farver og former og deltage i skabelsen af et geometrisk univers i ét af vores største atelierer\, FORMERIET. Alle er velkomne\, både børn og voksne. \nPia Jensen i færd med ét af sine projekter på Statens Værksteder for Kunst\nGet a unique glimpse in the artists’ work\nOn Culture Night we keep workshops and studios open\, so that artists and designers can present their “work in progress” to the public. Get behind the thick walls of the old warehouse in Christianshavn and see different artworks in the making. Here is room for artistic research and -development and professional facilities for production of exhibitions in and outside of Denmark. \nGuided Tour\nAs a special treatment on this particular night you can get a guided tour by our Director\, Frederik Hardvendel. Have a deeper look into the different projects and listen to the great stories of a house that welcomed its first artists in 1986. \nThe tour lasts about an hour and starts in the Metal Workshop at 7pm\, 8pm\, and 9pm. \nDrawing Workshop\nJoin artist Pia Jensen in creating huge infinite patterns of geometry on floors and walls.\nWith inspiration from her own art projects\, Pia invites you to grab colors and shapes and participate in the creation of a geometric universe in one of our largest studios\, FORMERIET. Everyone is welcome\, both small and big.
