SUMMARY:Exhibition Foyer: Michael Antrobus
DESCRIPTION:UNION \n10 June – 31 July 2022 \nThe project is a partnership between industry and craftsmanship; Combining a specialist factory made stainless steel extrusion with self made tooling to produce a range of furniture items with distinctive graphic profiles. \nMichael Antrobus in the Metal Workshop\nTables in the making\nChair and stool in the making\nEach item in the collection relies on a rational framework composed of horizontal elements held between half round extrusions that are offset along parallel lines. The metal components have been produced using a combination of heat bending with a self made jig and cold forming with a manually operated bar bender. \nThe slender tabletops are made from veneered panels\, faced with solid wood. The canvas and leather elements have been cut\, finished and fitted by hand. The full collection consists of a lounge chair\, stool\, side table and coffee table. \nGrand opening: 10 June 2022 at 5pm \n– \nMichael Antrobus is a British designer based in Copenhagen. He founded his studio in 2021 with a focus on furniture\, lighting and accessories. His work is led by a hands on\, analytical approach to making\, that fuses a broad understanding of materials and production to create objects that are both functional and intriguing. \nHe previously worked for the sculptor Antony Gormley\, London based designer Tom Dixon and the Danish porcelain brand Royal Copenhagen. \nHe has been commissioned to create work for Phillips De Pury and Company\, The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts.

SUMMARY:Artist talk: Honey Biba Beckerlee
DESCRIPTION:Vævning med optisk fiber og sværmalgoritmer\nPå Statens Værksteder for Kunst væver billedkunstner\, Honey Biba Beckerlee\, en 3 meter lang sommerfuglesværm-algoritme i optisk fiber\, internetkabler og silke. Værket skal udstilles på Charlottenborg til okt. 2022. Send en mail til tilmelding@svfk.dk \n\nEnglish \nArtist talk: Honey Biba Beckerlee\nOptical Fiber and Butterfly Algorithms on the Loom \nAt The Danish Art Workshops Artist Honey Biba Beckerlee is weaving a 3 meters long butterfly algorithm using optical fiber\, internet cables and silk on the loom. The work is due to exhibit at Charlottenborg Palace in Oct. 2022. \nBiba Beckerlee’s works manifests in a variety of mediums revolving around experimentation. She is interested in how visual art can challenge the idea of a coherent objective reality\, such as notions of originality\, individualism and anthropocentrism as well as concepts from classical physics’ such as cause and effect\, linear time and objectivity. \nIn relation to this\, she produces artworks in a bodily scale that implement digital materials and draws upon complex correlations between nature\, the human body\, and digital technology. Her focus lies upon the demands of the digital age in using elements and natural resources\, and she draws attention to this by creating sculptural installations made of materials like silicium and weaved cobber cables. \nOn Friday 17th of June 2022 at 3 – 4.30pm Biba Beckerlee invites the visitor to experience her current working process in the weaving workshop\, where she will discuss her unusual work producing butterfly swarm algorithms with a material like optical fiber. \nThere is a free entrance\, but please forward an email to tilmelding@svfk.dk if you wish to join.
